Year 5 Topic - PRIDE Challenges and Topic Work

Year 5 have embarked on their new topic - The Tudors - and have been learning all about The Battle of Bosworth and exploring the art of Giuseppe Arcimbold. He was an Italian painter best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish and books. The children have also begun learning about the Kings and Queens during this period of history.

Matthew and Dolly have been developing their artistic skills by drawing portraits of Elizabeth I as part of their home learning this week.

One of our PRIDE challenges was to build an obstacle course. Jack and Chloe (his sister) developed their physical and creative skills in building and completing their course.

Another PRIDE challenge was to show how they had demonstrated our school PRIDE value ‘determination’ during home learning. Tyler certainly proved he had determination, when he set himself the challenge of building a model of Old Trafford, The Manchester United home ground. The brilliant end result shows that his comittment to the task definitely paid off.
